- Well constructed, well maintained, and largely on dedicated tracks
- The scenery:
- Waimea Estuary
- Rabbit Island

- Mapua to Motueka trail – including the lookouts
- The Cafes and Bars which kept us fed, particularly:
- Honest Lawyer, Monaco
- Petite Fleur Vineyard Restaurant, Siefrieds Estate, Appleby
- The Boat Shed Cafe, Mapua
- Golden Bear Brewery, Mapua Wharf (“Seismic” according to Paul)
- Jester House, Tasman
- Riverside Cafe, Riverside Community, Lower Moutere
- Jellyfish Cafe, Mapua Wharf
- The friendly people who were interested in discussing our ride
- Staff of the cafes
- Other diners and guests
- Passersby, who stopped for a chat
- Mapua Wharf: a hive of activity (as seen below)
