West Coast Wilderness Trail 2023

In early November 2023 our smaller group (Kevin, Steve and Kem) revisited the West Coast Wilderness Trail, a ride that I had missed out on in the previous visit in 2017.

The itinerary this time was:

Day 1:	Fly to Hokitika, via Christchurch; travel by road to Ross
Day 2:	Ross to Hokitika (34 kms) Hokitika Gorge visit
Day 3:	Hokitika to Miltown, and return (62 kms)
Day 4:	Hokitika to Kumara (72 kms)
Day 5:	Kumara to Greymouth (28 kms) Pick-up, and return to Hokitika Return to Wellington, via Christchurch

The tour itinerary was set up by West Coast Cycle and Tours, who provided all transport (including airport pick-up and drop-off), bike hire, accommodation bookings and bag shuttle. As an added bonus, with time to fill on the afternoon of Day 2, WCCT provided a vehicle, allowing us to visit the spectacular turquiose waters of the Hokitika Gorge.

If you are planning any riding in the West Coast area , we highly recommmend the services of Donna, Steve and Alex at West Coast Cycle and Tours. The planning was perfect, the accommodation provided was ideal, and the bikes (eMTBs) were faultless. The added bonus was having access to a vehicle for the visit to Hokitika Gorge, and the provision of fresh towels and access to a shower at the end of our trip, before being dropped at the airport.
